Barbara Heck

BARBARA Ruckle (Heck). Bastian Ruckle and Margaret Embury had a daughter named Barbara (Heck) born in 1734. In 1760, she got married to Paul Heck and together they raised seven children. Four of them lived to adulthood.

Normally the subject of the biography is an active participant in important instances or has presented unique concepts or ideas that have been recorded in documentary form. Barbara Heck did not leave no written or personal notes. In fact, the evidence for the date of her wedding was not important. There is no evidence of primary sources from which one can reconstruct her motives and her actions throughout most of her lifetime. However, she is a iconic figure within the first history of Methodism in North America. It is the task of the biographer to explain the legend that she has created in this instance, and then to attempt to depict the real person who was enshrined in.

Abel Stevens, a Methodist historian in 1866, wrote about this. The growth of Methodism within the United States has now indisputably made the modest names of Barbara Heck first on the women's list that have been a part of the ecclesiastical story of the New World. Her record is based more on the importance of the cause she was connected to than the private life. Barbara Heck played a lucky role in the birth of Methodism, both in North America as well as Canada. She's famous for her way in which successful organizations and movements tend to celebrate their beginnings.
