Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

 Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25, 1994 was an American retired artistic gymnast. She is also twice Olympian. She was captain of the 2012 "Fierce Five", and"Fierce Five" in 2016 "Final Five," U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics team. She received a gold medal in team competitions at the 2016 Olympics. Gabby Douglas, her teammate, also took home gold. Raisman won silver medals for the all-around competition for individuals, as well as the floor exercise. She is the third-most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, just behind Shannon Miller and Simone Biles and has won six Olympic medals.Raisman was also on the gold-winning American teams in the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and the world bronze medalist on floor exercise in the year 2011. She was also the two-time champion of national floor exercise (2012,2015), the 2012 champion national of balance beam and five-time medalist at national championships in the all-around (silver in 2016 and silver in 2011, 2012 2013, 2012 and the year 2015). Inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Raisman was the daughter of Lynn Faber and was an ex-high school gymnast and Rick Raisman, on May 25, 1994 in Needham. There are three sisters younger than her: Madison, Chloe, and Brett. Raisman is Jewish and has said, "I take a lot of pride in being able to not only represent the U.S.A but also the Jewish community throughout the world. Raisman began gymnastics when she was 18 months old. She credits her passion for gymnastics to the "Magnificent Seven", an American women's squad that took home the gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics. The athlete began her training at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing up to Level 8, and then was transferred to Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club, where she was trained by Silvia Brestyan and Mihai Brestyan. Raisman was a graduate of Needham High School in 2012. She finished her senior year online while working towards the Olympics.
