Julia Karin Ormond Bio

Julia Karin Ormond was born on January 4, 1965. Her fame was boosted by her roles in The Baby of Macon (1993), Legends of the Fall (94), First Knight (95), Sabrina (95), Sabrina (95) and Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997) and The Barber of Siberia (1998). For her performance in the role of Temple Grandin (2010), she won an Emmy Award in the Miniseries or Film category. Her role as the main antagonist in The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020), is another standout. Ormond was born in Epsom, Surrey, the daughter of Josephine who is a lab technician and John Ormond, a stockbroker. Ormond is the second of five children to her parents. She attended private schools initially Guildford High School and then Cranleigh School, where early lead performances in Guys and Dolls and My Fair Lady began to draw attention. After a single year at arts school, she transferred to Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 1988. Ormond first appeared on British television in the 1989 series Traffik that focused on the illicit trade in heroin from the far East into the streets of Europe. Ormond played the addict daughter of the main character, who was a Home Office minister in the UK government who was involved in fighting heroin importation. The role was praised from the very beginning.
